packetsize

The packetsize command is used to change the size of the initial "chunk," or packet, of file data that is transferred using the SMT file transfer commands transmit and receive. The initial default SMT packet size is set using the Autfix program. You can change the initial packet size using the command:

packetsize number

where number can be from 64 to 4096 bytes.

You can also use the packetsize command to establish a "frozen" or fixed packet size for transmit and receive file transfers. Normally, Autolog will adaptively change the packet size for the most efficient transfer. When using a pseudo-duplex modem, or under other special circumstances, you may not want to have the packet size altered. To to specify a fixed, nonvariable packet size for transmit and receive file transfers, use the /f switch:

packetsize number/f
