get
The get command lets you store everything received from the remote
system while in talk mode into a file. get
doesn't provide any error correction. get is useful for recording
a log of all or selected parts of your communications session.
To use get, follow these steps:
-
In command mode, enter the command:
get file name
This tells Autolog to create the file called file name, although
nothing will be put into that file yet. If the file already exists, it
will be erased and replaced with the new file. Use the command append
if you want to append new information to the end of an existing file.
-
Press the change key to enter talk mode. While
you're in talk mode, everything the remote system sends will be stored
in the file. To temporarily turn off the "recording," press the copy
key. To turn recording back on, press the copy key again.
-
You can switch back and forth between talk and command modes without closing
the file. Whenever you're in talk mode, incoming characters will be stored
in your get file (as long as you haven't toggled the copy key
to turn get off).
-
To permanently end recording and close the file, use the close
command. The get file will also be closed if you use any of these
commands:
finish quit
close system
help dialer
dir another get
get is like a tape recorder. Entering a get command
while in command mode is like loading a blank cassette tape into the recorder.
Entering talk mode actually starts the recording. get will record
everything that you receive while get is "turned on," just like
a tape recorder. You can turn the recorder on or off by pressing the copy
key again.
You can use the note command to insert
your own text or notes into the get file.
get honors these options:
guard noerase
strip
get records only talk
mode activity. Use the logfile command
to record both talk mode activity and Autolog commands that you've entered
and their results.
append
The append command behaves just like the get
command, except if the specified file already exists, additional data will
be added to the end of the existing file, rather than erasing the old file
and replacing it with a new one. If the file doesn't already exist, it
will be created.
The append command is entered like this:
append file name
Just like get, you can toggle recording on and off while in
talk mode by pressing the copy key.
