Command Mode

When you're in Autolog's command mode, you can enter commands for your Autolog program to act on. What you type on your keyboard is interpreted by Autolog as an Autolog command. When you first start up Autolog, you will be in command mode (unless an automatic script file uses the Autolog talk command to put you into talk mode).

When you're in command mode, your cursor will be resting next to Autolog's command prompt:

Autolog's command mode screen will be displayed, unless you've turned on the terse option.

From Autolog's command mode, you can enter talk mode by pressing the change key. You can also enter the command talk to enter talk mode. You will also enter talk mode automatically when a dial command is answered by the remote modem (unless the dial command was executed by a script file). To return to command mode from talk mode, press the change key.
