Before you've dialed and made a connection to the remote system, you can also enter talk mode and "talk" to your modem, to give it commands, change its settings, and so on.
From Autolog's command mode, you can enter talk mode by pressing the change key. You can also enter the command talk from command mode. You will also enter talk mode automatically when a dial command is answered by the remote modem (unless the dial command was executed from a script file).
When you first enter talk mode, you will see the message:
The character currently assigned the change key function will be displayed instead of [change key]. You may also see a similar message on the bottom status line of your terminal while you are in talk mode.
To return to command mode from talk mode, press your change key.
