strip
The strip option strips off the highest bit (parity)
from characters in files transferred using the non-error-correcting file
transfer protocols. Use strip when receiving text files from a
system that uses parity. You can also use strip when sending files
to a system that doesn't recognize or use characters with the eighth bit
on. ASCII or text characters only use seven bits,
so the eighth bit is usually ignored, used for parity, or used to represent
non-ASCII characters, such as international alphabets or special symbol
sets.
To turn the strip option on or off, before you enter your file
transfer command, enter:
strip true or false
