post
The post command sends a file to the remote system using XON/XOFF/EOF
protocol. The remote system must be ready and waiting to capture a
file before using the post command. The steps to send a file to
the remote system using post are:
-
Prepare the remote system to receive a file while in talk mode. You can
use many different types of file-capturing programs. post will
work best if the remote software can use XON/XOFF/EOF protocol. That means
it will use the XON and XOFF characters (control-Q and control-S) for pacing
the file transfer and will close the file when it receives the EOF
character (usually control-Z).
-
Press the change key to return to Autolog's command mode. You will almost
always want to use the delay option. You
may also need to use the stall option
to pace the file transfer.
-
While still in command mode, enter the command:
post file name
-
When the file is completely transferred, Autolog will send the EOF character
(usually control-Z).
If the remote system does not close the file and end the transfer on receipt
of the EOF character, press the change key to return to talk mode and end
the remote program manually.
Most problems using post arise because Autolog outputs the
characters in the file far too fast for many remote text-capturing programs.
post honors these options to slow down and pace the file transfer:
delay stall
