READ ME file for Autolog/Slave

Autolog is a serial communications package that runs alike on different systems.
It offers file transfer, automated scripting, termianl emulation, and optional
3GL langauge interfaces. The Slave program is installed on a remote computer to
make it easy for an Autolog user to send and receive files with that system.

Installing Soft Machines Products for Linux

1. #install -i linaut.rpm
2. #autfix -i to install the PIC code.
3. If you are installing Autolog, you need to run
autfix and call us at (217) 351-7199 or
   (800) 949-7638 for your PIC. Slave does not
   require a PIC.

Notes about the Linux release

1. Use the ttyS0-ttyS3 for native PC ports. The cua ports are deprecated, so don't bother. Should
also work with intelligent I/O cards, but I haven't yet tested this out.

2. The xterm colors don't work with all the different terminal color schemes. If an xterm screen looks bad, try changing the color scheme, this may help.
